Advertiser FAQ

Types of Ad

  • Ad teaser
1/2 the space on regular messages are reserved for ad teasers. Ads are contextually placed according to various criteria (location, bid, start and end dates etc.). You can specify your maximum bid for each teaser insertion as well as a limit for each ad campaign.
  • Ad response
This is an optinal feature. When setting up your ad, you can create a response message containing more information about your ad/offer which will be sent to the user when they request it. Please refer to Plan & Pricing for current fees.

Ad approval process

Before an advertisement can go live, it has to be approved by udefn. Please refer to guidelines, program policy, and terms of service for more information. Once you have created your ad, you can queue it for approval from its draft status. udefn will review your ad and approve it or recommend changes to be made. Once satisfied, your ad will be approved and will go live. Once live, you can make changes to your ad without going through approval again. However, if Teaser or Full response is changed, your ad will automatically be set to draft status and you can queue it for approval.

How does Ad teaser work?

Each outgoing message is automatically analyzed for contextual matches with approved ads. When a match is found, Teaser text of the selected ad is appended to the message. No extra message is sent to the user. This ensures unobtrusive user experience.

You can adjust MaxPointPerInsertion to best suit your campaign. When multiple ads are matched to a single outgoing message, the ad with highest bid is selected. Fee for ad teaser is based upon the next lowest bid 1.00 points.

How does Ad response work?

This is an optional feature when setting up your ad campaign. When setting up your ad, you can fill out Full response field specifying the response to send to mobile user when they request for more information.

During ad teaser insertion, if Full response is detected for the selected ad, additional instructions are appened to notify user on how to get more information about this ad or offer. When user requests more information, text specified in Full response is sent back to the user. Each time user requests this information, you will be charged fees according to Plan & Pricing.

What is Location Coverage?

Location coverage lets you target your ad based on mobile user's location. You can create a location coverage by defining an area and coverage radius. You can filter your ad to selected location coverages. Mobile users have the ability to define their location in their profile. This data is matched against those defined in your ad.

Ad content

Your ad may not contain:

  • Any material intended for persons over 18.
  • Mature sexual themes, nudity, and/or sexual activity.
  • Crude or indecent language.
  • Offensive or inappropriate content.

How Ad billing works?

When setting up your ad campaign, you can optionally specify Insertion point limit for this ad and/or Insertion count limit for this ad. This limit is valid only for Teaser insertions and don't apply for Full response. Please read Terms of Service for more details.

Before an ad can go live, you have to specify a valid billing method by clicking on Billing information. You only pay for ad teaser insertions and ad responses. There is no monthly fees or setup fees. And there is no up-front payment. udefn will bill advertisers the earlier of 30 days or 100000.00 points. If the attempt to bill to provided method fails, the ads will go offline immediately. When payment method is corrected and successfully billed, it will to live again.
