How do I register my phone?

. udefn will send a text message back to your phone with an activation code. Sign in to your udefn account and click on Account settings. Enter your phone number and the activation code. Click Update my settings.Your phone is now registered with udefn.
What is a Keyword?
udefn lets users assign keywords to various bots in their profile. For example, Alice can assign
w
for weather bot, while Bob can assign
e
for weather bot. Users can define keywords that makes sense to them.
Keywords
should less than 10 characters long
cannot begin with a number (g3 is OK, but 3g is not)
cannot contain space
What is a Bot?
Bots are programs which perform certain actions when invoked. They are invoked when user texts the keyword they assigned to the bot. Bot typically generates a response back to the user. For example,
the weather bot
sends back the weather details to the user when they text the area they are interested in.
How many messages will I get?
In most cases, there will be 1 response message to each request message. Below is a list of exceptions -
Alert bots
can send more than 1 message. Please read the bot details to know exactly how many messages each bot might send.
When a bot is added to your profile or your profile is updated (and you have a phone already registered), you will get 1 confirmation message for each change.
When you register your phone, 1 confirmation welcome message will be sent.
When you register your phone and you already have a profile setup, one or more (depending on your profile) confirmation message with list of keywords will be sent.
MAP -
You can text MAP to get your profile sent back. Depending on your profile, this may result in one or more messages.
My number changed. What now?
udefn profiles are linked to your account rather than to your phone. If your phone number changed, you can still use your existing udefn account.
Sign in
to your udefn account and click on
Settings
link. Click on
My number changed
link. This will remove your old phone from your profile. Using your new phone, text
join
to 51406. You will receive a temporary username and password/activation code back. On the
Settings
page, enter your new phone number and activation code and click
Update settings
button.
Do I get charged when I text something to 51406?
udefn does not charge mobile users! However, standard text message charges apply, which is between you and your mobile service provider. Visit

How to unsubscribe?
You can cancel your account anytime by texting
stop
to
51406
or you can use
Cancel account
page. If you did not register your phone with udefn and are getting messages (maybe caused by number portability etc.), you can use this form to remove your phone from udefn.
Will my personal information be shared with anyone?
udefn takes utmost care in protecting your privacy. Your profile information will not be shared with bot publishers or advertisers. Only the information you choose to enter while customizing your bot profile will be sent to the bot publisher to provide the published bot functionality. Your information will not be shared with advertisers.
